Maine

Filled with lobster shacks, dense forests, scenic lakes, candy-striped lighthouses and seaside enclaves, Maine provides ample opportunities for adventure and exploration or lounging in Adirondack chairs as the resplendent Fall foliage reveals itself.

Topping the Maine must-see list is Acadia National Park, home to some of the most stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife on the Eastern Seaboard. Highlights include Cadillac Mountain, which is the perfect place to catch the sunrise; Thunder Hole, where coastal stone and immense ocean waves produce a booming show; Great Long Pond, a popular spot for boating, canoeing and fishing; and Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse.

Gateway to Acadia National Park is Bar Harbor, which regularly features on national ‘best of’ lists, including as one of America’s Favourite Towns.

New Hampshire

It may look small on the map, but New Hampshire’s diverse regions offer a variety of destinations and attractions, from charming New England villages, miles of scenic forests and parks, to soaring peaks, island-dotted lakes and picture-postcard rural landscapes.

Taking centre-stage are the White Mountains, which stretch to meet Maine in the east and Vermont to the west. Home to some of the state’s most outstanding natural wonders, including Mount Washington, Franconia Notch State Park, and the Kancamagus Highway, this region is road-trip heaven! A perfect base is North Conway, a town loaded with varied shopping, fine restaurants, top-notch ski resorts and incredible wilderness areas.

Vermont

A place to slow down, look around and simply take notice. Vermont’s idyllic scenes include blazing red maple trees, covered bridges, hillside farms, sunlit meadows and dazzling white ski trails all of which provide the ideal backdrop for hiking through brilliant foliage or feeling the majesty of expansive vistas on scenic drives.
There’s perhaps no better drive for impressive vistas than the Green Mountain Byway, as it provides stunning views of open meadows, farmlands and forests, all with a spectacular mountain backdrop.

Connecticut

Boasting a charming New England feel with a cosmopolitan style, Connecticut brims with scenic coastal drives, world-class museums, stunning architecture, rich history, lush vineyards and a world-class culinary scene. With all this and more, it’s fair to say you won’t be at a loss for ways to stay busy in the Nutmeg State!

With 142 state parks and forests covering over 255,000 acres of pristine coastline, rolling hills and enchanting forests, Connecticut’s natural beauty is always within reach.

Rhode Island

At just 37 miles by 48 miles, the USA’s smallest state certainly packs a punch when it comes to cultural richness and natural beauty. Its coastline is famed for seafaring traditions, uber-fresh seafood, pristine beaches and endless fun on the water, while inland, there’s never a dull moment thanks to all manner of outdoor activities, from bouldering to hot-air ballooning. The capital, Providence, mixes the walkability of a smaller city with the culture of a much bigger one.

Massachusetts

From the ocean to the mountains, Massachusetts offers extraordinarily rich experiences in cities and nature whatever the season. Gateway to both Massachusetts and New England, state capital Boston oozes with history and important sights from the American Revolution.
