Vast, magnificent and mesmerisingly beautiful, the Grand Canyon is easily Arizona’s most distinguishable landmark and a natural wonder that you simply have to see to believe. Seeing the sunrise or viewing the enormous expanse of the canyon at sunset are bucket list experiences, but whatever time of day you visit, there’s no place on earth that rivals these views. Step to the edge and take it all in.
Stretching 277 miles from end to end, steep rocky walls descend more than a mile to the canyon’s floor, where the wild Colorado River traces a swift course southwest. The Canyon is divided into three unique areas that each offer a distinct and unique experience: South Rim, North Rim and West Rim.
Due to its proximity to the large towns of Flagstaff and Williams,...
The South Rim is available year-round. Summer is particularly popular with warm temperatures and cool nights, but bear in mind if you do follow a trail to the canyon floor, the temperature will vary greatly. The canyon is spectacular in winter, dusted with snow, while spring and autumn offer glorious colour and slightly unpredictable weather, with either late-season snow, rain storms or unseasonably warm weather. The West Rim is also available year-round, with soaring summer temperatures, mild winters and lovely spring or autumn temperatures. The North Rim is usually only accessible from mid-May to October.
