The sister islands of Koh Yao Yai and Koh Yao Noi sit halfway between Phuket and Krabi within scenic Phang Nga Bay and are both worth a visit for their delightful beaches, natural scenery and back to nature ambience, that feels far removed from the nearby larger islands. Ideal for those seeking a relaxing beach holiday off the beaten track.
The pace of change here has been delightfully slow, with the local population content to retain many aspects of their traditional rural life. While a few resorts have now appeared around the islands, the main source of income for the locals is still farming and fishing.
