Koh Samui’s white sands and relaxed ambience may have boosted the island’s popularity in recent years, yet much of its sleepy charm and natural beauty lingers.
Lively Chaweng is the island’s hub with an impressive beach, vibrant nightlife and inviting restaurants, along with street markets, boutiques and malls. Further south is Lamai, which although quieter, has dining and shopping aplenty, while on the north coast, Mae Nam and Bo Phut deliver a more serene setting for sun-seekers. When in Bo Phut head to Fisherman’s Village, where rustic buildings house boutiques and trendy restaurants plus each Friday it hosts the popular Walking Street Market.
