Home to just a handful of hotels there’s definitely no need to reserve a sun lounger at first light, and amongst the sheltered bays and frequently deserted beaches, you’ll often see only your own footprints in the sand.
The scenery isn’t too shabby either, with soaring limestone mountains peering over palm-tree lined roads, lush coconut or rubber plantations and stilted wooden houses. Inland, explore stalactite caves, waterfalls and natural exfoliating fish spas in mountain rivers.
The offshore waters are a breeding ground for pink dolphins, a rare albino variety with a striking pink hue. Take a boat trip in the hope of a closer encounter with these elusive creatures.

Khanom enjoys good weather for the majority of the year, however between November to mid-December it can be rather windy. The peak dry season is from March to May but even during the traditional rainy season (June to October) it usually only rains for a short period in the afternoon.
Approximately 1 hour by road from Surat Thani airport. Khanom is also 1½ hours by ferry from Koh Samui, or 3½ hours from Koh Phangan or Koh Tao. It is the nearest beach resort to Elephant Hills.
